What is SidePlate?

SidePlate® is a design optimization process which utilizes SidePlate moment frame technology putting steel exactly where it is needed in a building. Our process reduces overall tonnage, minimizes required connections and accelerates erection times. The SidePlate team gets involved early and stays involved through the engineering, detailing, fabrication and erection phases to ensure a simple and successful project.

As an engineer, your time on a project is valuable and therefore needs to be used wisely. By taking advantage of a no-cost SidePlate evaluation of your project, you will be provided an economical SidePlate option for you to evaluate and if you choose to, provide it as an option to the rest of the team. There is no project too complex—or too simple—for SidePlate to be a considered option.

The SidePlate team includes an entire engineering staff focused strictly on steel moment frame design. Whether wind-governed or seismic, we have the expertise and the team ready to put in the hours for you. Our solutions reduce the amount of steel, minimize foundations and improve scheduling times. We provide you with all the lateral connection drawings and calculations needed at no cost to the design team.

SidePlate gives you a third party no-cost evaluation of your project allowing you to have a peer-to-peer discussion on what really is the best path to travel. Is concrete the right way to go? Would field-bolted connections save a significant amount of schedule time? Can the stiffness of a SidePlate or SidePlate PLUS design provide the open areas your design requires? Imagine the possibilities of this type of discussion.

When you start to think about past projects and the delays and frustrations, having SidePlate take a look at your next project makes sense. Our design can be built by any fabricator, and any erector can facilitate your SidePlate or SidePlate PLUS project. A no-cost third-party evaluation of your project can only end up as a benefit.

Remember, it is almost never too late to let us take a look at your project. There is no cost to you, and the easiest way to start is to contact the REGIONAL ENGINEER in your area.
