AISC 358-16, Supplement No. 2 8/19/2020

Metro Public Library Parking Garage 1/29/2020

The Metro Nashville Public Library Parking Garage was due for an expansion, to cater to the growing population in downtown Nashville, TN. The three-story vertical expansion of the existing garage created 350 additional parking spaces. The existing garage is in a tight, active urban space, and the new facility will ease a lot of congestion. A SidePlate design eliminated traditional welded steel frames, reduced the overall steel tonnage, and supported the structure laterally, without diagonal bracing or shear walls.

Centennial Hills Hospital 4/12/2020

Click here to view a time-lapse video showing the construction of the Centennial Hills Hospital New Patient Tower in Las Vegas, NV. The five-story, 145,000 square foot expansion will add 56 new patient beds to the hospital, increasing the total bed count to 318. This addition will provide increased capacity in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, Intensive Care Unit, Intermediate Unit and Medical Surgical Units across the hospital. SidePlate PLUS designs were used on the project, bringing speed of construction to help the facility to be completed in late 2021.

2020 All-Bolted Connections Details 4/22/2020

2020 All-Bolted Connection Designs 4/22/2020

In 1995 SidePlate connection designs were introduced to the market to fill a need created after the Northridge CA, earthquake. The connection design required both shop and field welding, proving to be very safe, but not very fast to build. In 2013 SidePlate introduced a field-bolted connection to help speed up the building process and in all areas of the country, it has been a big hit. So it only seems right that on our 25th Anniversary as part of our commitment to Powered by MiTek that we do something big--like introducing two all-bolted connection designs! On July 1, 2020, all of the details will be available, but for now, here is a quick look at both the Wide-Flange All-Bolted and the HSS All-Bolted Connection designs.
